The Long Game marks Emile Ndayisaba’s first solo exhibition in Lisbon. Black steel structures cut through the gallery at angles, forcing the visitor to negotiate the space slowly — an echo of the checkpoints, corridors and waiting rooms that shape a displaced life.
Alongside the steel works, a new series of glazed ceramic and cast-glass forms continues Ndayisaba’s pared-back palette. Together the works ask what it means to build, and to keep building, when the ground is never certain.
